On 28th September 2024, Uganda proudly celebrated ASEC  Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of service and dedication to education and empowerment. The celebration was filled with various memorable events, with the theme: “Igniting Hope, Building Bridges, Creating Impact.”

The highlight of the day was the presence of the main celebrant, Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok, Bishop of Lira Diocese, who led the thanksgiving Holy Mass with inspiring words of faith and unity. His presence reinforced the importance of the mission that ASEC has undertaken over the years.

The graduation ceremony was officiated by Dr. Brighid Blake, a Board Member of ASEC from the USA, who was joined by ASEC staff in Uganda. Sr. Mary Germina Keneema, the ASEC Country Director, and Sr. Monica Ajok Opige, the ASEC Country Coordinator, were also present at the event. Their leadership has been instrumental in driving the program’s success.

A key moment during the celebration was the SLDI 6th  graduation during which 116 sisters received certificates in various fields, including Website Design, Administration, and Finance. These graduates are now equipped with essential skills to drive progress in their ministries and communities, continuing the legacy of education and service that ASEC has been fostering for the past 25 years.

In addition to the graduation ceremony, the event also saw the launch of the “Educate a Sister” campaign, aimed at supporting the continued education of religious sisters across Uganda. The CEO of Centenary Bank, who was represented by Mr. Jingo Michael, kicked off the campaign with a generous donation of UGX 10 million. Other well-wishers also contributed to this noble cause, further ensuring that more sisters will have access to quality education, enabling them to make a greater impact in their communities.

The Silver Jubilee was not just a celebration of past achievements, but a call to ignite hope for the future, to continue building bridges between communities, and to create lasting impacts through education and empowerment initiatives. ASEC-Uganda remains committed to supporting the growth and development of religious sisters across Uganda, empowering them to be change-makers in society.
